Luton Hockey Club were founded in 1950 by a gang of keen school-leavers. At that time the club only had one team, playing homes games on grass at Knightshayes Court , courtesy of Sir John Amory.
There was no electricity at the ground and away games were often travelled to on the train. Despite this the players remained enthusiastic and lasting friendships were made.
Fifty five years on, this small non-league club has grown from strength to strength and now boasts three league sides and a strong junior membership.
Players are trained by qualified coaches from the age of eight upwards every Wednesday, in season, from 6pm for the youngsters and 7pm for senior players on the club’s home ground, the all weather astro pitch at Bolham Road.
